Take Action
"I did what my conscience
told me to do, and you can’t
fail if you do that. “
—Anita Hill
Leading advocacy groups recommend the following as actions women can personally take to impact women's rights.
Get Involved in Elections
First and foremost, vote! Support candidates who are actively engaged in ensuring gender rights and justice are explicitly codified in state and federal law.
Consider running for a local or state office or support candidates who understand women's unique needs in our community.
Volunteer
Identify your commitments, speak about them, and act on them. Volunteering with a women's advocacy organization is the perfect opportunity to learn more about women's rights and contribute to change.
Donate
Too often, women's movements and organizations lack the funding to make positive changes in women's lives. Funding is crucial to achieving the goal of gender equality and women's rights.
Attend Events,
Marches, and Protests
Show up in the chambers of your city, county and state governments and make your presence and position known. Historically, women's events, marches and protests have made real strides in securing support for women's movements.
Educate the Next
Generation
Youth activists around the world are stepping up for gender equality. By empowering young advocates and educating them about women's rights, we can ensure a better future for all.
Support Women-Owned Businesses
Women do not have the same access to start-up capital as men. By supporting women entrepreneurs in your community, you can make a difference.
